Choose ONE of the following three topics:


1. Prove that the major theme of this novel is "coming of age" and this "coming of age" is most clearly seen in the character of Jem.


2. By citing comments and incidents from the novel, demonstrate that the primary theme of this novel is "man's inhumanity to man." Be sure to include references to Boo Radley and the treatment of African-Americans, particularly Tom Robinson.


3. Some critics have said that Atticus is the children's "point of reference" in this novel. Decide what you think Atticus' function is in this novel and prove your conclusion by citing specific incidents in support of your thesis.

Pick a “theatre job” (i.e. Acting, Directing, Designing Lights; Sound; Sets; Costumes; Props), and propose an “approach”  or “concept.”  Either read the play itself if you feel comfortable with the language, or use any one of a variety of synopses available on the Internet (Recommended: Spark Notes at http://www.sparknotes.com/shakespeare/macbeth/context.html )
